Combined Solution: Anti‑Caking Oil plus Powder Agent

Release time: 2025-02-15

Case ID: On‑site Anti‑Caking Application Case for Customer A

Test Period: December 2024

Case Background

After production, compound fertilizer goes through pallet stacking, warehouse storage and long‑distance transportation. Subject to ambient humidity, stacking pressure and moisture absorption of porous fertilizer granules, particle adhesion and fertilizer caking tend to occur. Severe caking will cause discharging difficulty and higher screening loss, directly affecting finished fertilizer quality and end‑user application experience.

Customer A was troubled by fertilizer caking after long‑term warehouse storage and looked for a practical fertilizer anti‑caking solution compatible with its existing production line to improve particle flowability during storage. At the invitation of Customer A, our technical engineers visited the production site. Combined with the customer’s fertilizer type, drum granulation process, package specification and warehouse temperature‑humidity conditions, we customized a complete fertilizer anti‑caking solution with synergistic treatment of anti‑caking oil plus anti‑caking powder.

Solution Principle

This composite process adopts anti‑caking oil used together with anti‑caking powder, giving full play to the complementary advantages of the two kinds of fertilizer anti‑caking additives.

Anti‑caking oil evenly coats the surface of fertilizer granules and forms a dense hydrophobic protective film. It reduces moisture absorption and surface stickiness so as to mitigate particle adhesion at source.

Anti‑caking powder fills micro‑pores on granule surfaces and builds physical isolation layers between particles. It buffers extrusion pressure from stacking piles and further improves anti‑caking capacity under long‑term stacked conditions.

Dual protection of oil‑based film forming and powder isolation delivers better performance than single additive treatment. It is well‑suited for scenarios with long‑term pallet storage and relatively high ambient humidity, and stabilizes fertilizer quality throughout storage cycles.

On‑site Test Procedure

In mid‑December 2024, our technicians completed commissioning and trials on the customer’s production line. Existing production equipment, regular packaging bags and real‑world warehouse stacking mode were adopted without idealized special treatment, to restore real‑life storage and transportation conditions as much as possible.

After spraying and coating with anti‑caking additives, fertilizer bags were stacked in accordance with the customer’s standard shipping practice to simulate mass commodity warehousing.

Following 50‑day stacked storage, bag‑opening inspection was carried out in February 2025. Our technicians and the customer’s production supervisor jointly evaluated fertilizer samples.

Actual Performance after Bag Opening

  1. Most fertilizer particles stay loose with good flowability After 50‑day compression under stacking weight, most fertilizer granules remain intact and independent without large‑scale hard caking. The result proves that the combined formula of anti‑caking oil and anti‑caking powder can effectively restrain particle adhesion.
  2. Only slight false caking observed A small amount of false caking appears in partial samples. The agglomerates fall apart under light touch and will not interfere with discharging, screening or subsequent field fertilization; no hard massive lumps are generated.
  3. Test performance meets customer expectations Customer A recognized the trial result. This combined anti‑caking solution of oil and powder is compatible with its current production line and relieves fertilizer caking pain points during long‑term stock‑up.

Case Summary

This field case verifies that anti‑caking oil used together with anti‑caking powder can effectively boost anti‑caking properties of compound fertilizer for long‑term stacked storage and lower caking risks in warehouses.

For fertilizer manufacturers facing heavy stacking pressure, high warehouse humidity and long required storage life, the combined fertilizer anti‑caking solution of oil plus powder is a practical option for reference.
